Update: Bargaining

The pace of bargaining has been slower than the RTBU would have liked, but itís for good reason.

The RTBU and other rail unions have been keen to ensure that the unfair changes wrought on members by the previous Newman LNP government are neutralised in any new agreement.

Ensuring the stripped back agreements previously proposed are consigned to history is the first priority.

Moving forward by compiling new agreements which rest heavily on the protections we fought for over many years is an important job and one we need to get right.

Members are understandably anxious to get a pay rise after such a long period of time with an effective wages freeze.

We have managed to compile draft agreements for most areas of QR which seek to restore some fairness to working life in QR by allowing a return of:

Proper consultation over changes at work;
Policies which are more balanced and fair for QR workers;
Enforceable no forced redundancy and no forced relocation commitments; and
Tight controls on contracting out to promote employment security.

Your patience in this process is appreciated and we expect to make progress rapidly in the coming weeks.

Your workplace delegates and activists are an important part of this process and are providing important feedback. Make sure you keep in contact with them during this process.

Unity is Strength
